Dr. Franks received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Dayton. While completing his undergraduate studies, he helped to start the U.D. Rescue Squad and served as an EMT crew chief. He graduated from the Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed a pediatric residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Dr. Franks is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association.

His interests include spending time with family, learning about other people and diverse cultures, and serving in various ministries.
